Does anyone know how to correctly change parameter units for D2D display?

I would like to view WW3 Wind Wave Height (WVHGT) in feet rather than meters. I 
changed the units in WVHGT.xml file located in 
"/awips2/cave/etc/derivedParameters/definitions," but it does not seem to have 
any effect.
