I was able to export the jre with the CAVE client, it adds an additional
312 MB to the installed application and the compressed DMG is now 373 MB.

This is built Yosemite 10.10 with jdk 1.7.0_79 and Eclipse 3.8.2.

When you drag it to the Applications folder 17,000 files are copied to 597
MB on disk.

Updates only require dragging the app again from a new DMG and selecting
"replace" when prompted by Finder.
