Dear BWW-ers plus a few others,
Take a read of this:
http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/pdf/10.1175/BAMS-D-15-00010.1
This is along the subjects that many of us were discussing at AGU.
While we have had plenty of Python etc sessions at various conferences I
think expanding these to general "reproducibility in the earth sciences"
sessions at AGU/AMS would be good. Could it be a good idea, given the
growth of this area and the focus of AGU on reproduce-ability would it
be a reach goal to get something like a Chapman conference or some sort
of Symposium?
This could be coupled with short course on version control, social
coding and unit testing as well as an exposure to the ecosystem of open
software in the geophysical sciences.
Just a holiday thought for you to percolate away on,
Cheers,
Scott
