Ghanshsan:
I have a question about the variables (data structures) you are using to store
the image data.
If your data is on a lat/lon grid of some sort (e.g. 90 degrees of longitude
and 180 degrees of latitude, which from a data structure perspective is
rectangular and all pixels/data points are on-earth), what is the motivation
for including off-earth regions in the data variable ?
very respectfully,
randy

what is your opinion about geostationary satellites where we have to cold space
all around the imaged disk and we are providing geolocation information per
pixel lat /lon as 2D lat/lon arrays.

Ghansam,
Actually, in the satellite world (or any trajectory or swath-type case), it is
entirely possible that you might have acquired measurements at a point, but the
location information for that point may have been garbled or lost. If we don't
require linkage, then we can preserve the maximum amount of data.
Grace and peace,
Jim

hi sir
thanks a lot for the prompt reply.
obviously data should be missing where coordinates are missing.

Ghansham,
I would say yes, unreservedly, but others are insisting that this only OK if
you also have missing values in all the associated data variables.

Is it possible to specify missing value in auxillaery coordinate variables (2-D
lat/lon variables).
