Hi Robb,
I collected a raw file of the thinned grids using the following in my
pqact file
HRS ^H[UVHRP][I-P]... KWB. (..)(..).*(/mAVN|/mSSIAVN)
FILE data/GRIB/(\1:yyyy)(\1:mm)\1\2_gfsraw.grib
then I ran gribtocdl as follows

This created a cdl file, but it had a lot of problems. The latitude and
Ruth,
I know gribtocdl has lots of problems, it was created as an afterthought.
But it does save a lot of time in creating a cdl and usually the editing
is minor.
longitudes were every 1.25 degrees, but there were only 73X73 of them and
they only covered part of the world. This might be because the different
sections of the world are in different grids and the cdl file gets
created with the first grid it encounters? I ended up just creating a cdl
file by modifying the cdl file that came with the decoders. I changed the
number of latitudes and longitudes and the lists of latitudes and
longitudes. If you diff the attached file with gfs_37-44.cdl, you can see
what changes I made. It seems to be working fine.
Great, I'll add it to the cdl's in the decoders package so others have
access to it.
Thanks,
Robb...

Ruth,
I forgot to have the Makefile.in in the manifest, fixed it.
The decoders
release should work now. Thanks for catching that.
