We are pleased to announce that IDV 7.1 is now available for download at:
https://downloads.unidata.ucar.edu/idv/
The headline feature in this release is Run Gemini. IDV now includes a
runGemini capability, shown as the Gemini Agentic Vision dialog, that sends
a weather-analysis request to Google Gemini from inside the application.
Another key feature is that IDV can now browse Amazon S3 object stores
directly from the Data Catalog Chooser, so you no longer need a local copy
of the archive. Enter a sample URL such as
https://noaa-goes19.s3.amazonaws.com/?prefix=ABI-L2-CMIPF/&delimiter=/. A
selected NetCDF or GRIB object can be opened in the IDV, including use in
NcML time aggregations for satellite, NOAA MRMS, and Level II radar data.
