Hello all,
I’m trying to identify the fastest practical path to ingest US ASOS/METAR
observations into an LDM-based pipeline (near-real-time use case). I’m looking
to build a model detailing the urban heat effect and how it impacts weather.
For lowest latency ASOS/METAR into LDM, what upstream are you using now
(NOAAPort/SBN, MADIS LDM, other)?
If using LDM, which feedtypes/product identifiers are most reliable for
high-frequency surface obs?
Typical observed end-to-end lag (obs time → local ingest) for your setup?
Any recommended filtering/decoding approach for 1-min style obs vs standard
METAR/SPECI?
Is the `tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us008001/DF.bf/DC.intl/` spool useful for
low-latency operational ingest, or mostly bulk/archive?
Any pointers or insight would be greatly appreciated here.
Thank you all!
