[ldm-users] Looking for upstream IDD feed for personal METAR research project

Dear LDM/IDD community,

I'm a software developer based in France. I studied computer science at École
42 and now work on personal projects to keep learning. I'm currently working on
a personal project to deepen my skills in Rust by building a real-time weather
data aggregation system.

The project collects METAR observations from multiple public sources
(aviationweather.gov, CheckWX, tgftp.nws.noaa.gov) and compares their delivery
latency. I'm interested in adding LDM/IDD as a data source to study push-based
delivery versus polling-based approaches.

I'm running a small VPS (Ubuntu 24.04 ARM64, Hetzner, Helsinki) and would only
need the IDS|DDPLUS feedtype filtered to surface observations (^S[AP]). This
represents minimal bandwidth — a few tens of MB/hour at most.

Since I'm not affiliated with a .edu institution, I understand I cannot connect
directly to idd.unidata.ucar.edu. I'm reaching out to ask if any participating
site would be willing to add my server as a downstream leaf node.

I'd be happy to provide my hostname/IP for ALLOW configuration, and of course I
would not redistribute the feed.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining such a valuable open data
infrastructure.

Best regards,

BROGGI Thomas
