Hello,
I operate an independent, non-academic weather-market research project and
am looking for an LDM/IDD upstream provider willing to supply a very small
real-time METAR/SPECI feed to a leaf node in Vienna, Austria.
The purpose is to measure end-to-end dissemination latency relative to NOAA
public METAR station files. We are specifically testing whether raw IDD
delivery can provide airport observations materially earlier than the
public NOAA station TXT distribution path.
*Stations currently of interest:*
EDDM, EHAM, LFPB, LIMC, LEMD, EFHK
*Requested data:*
IDS|DDPLUS, or the equivalent current text feed containing METAR/SPECI
observations.
We only need surface aviation observations. No model grids, radar,
satellite, imagery, or redistribution.
The downstream would be:
- leaf node only;
- very low bandwidth;
- dedicated Linux VPS in Vienna, Austria;
- static IPv4;
- TCP/388 outbound connectivity already verified;
- no redistribution.
We are not affiliated with a university and want to be fully transparent
about the use case. If a free community relay is not appropriate, we are
also open to a paid relay or formal data-access arrangement.
Our current reverse DNS is provider-assigned rather than a custom FQDN. We
can provide the static IPv4 privately and configure hostname/PTR
requirements if required by the upstream operator.
If anyone is able to provide an upstream ALLOW, or can recommend a provider
that accepts independent/non-academic downstreams, I would greatly
appreciate it.
Thank you.
