Hi,

This is definitely not a complete surprise given the forthcoming changes to
C-band spectrum licensing and the deployment schedule for the next,
cloud-based version of AWIPS. At the same time, it is very unsettling due
to the lack of clarity about how the NWS intends to replace the open,
realtime data distribution afforded by NOAAPORT. This will certainly be
discussed during Unidata's Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting next
week. Unidata definitely will respond to the NWS survey, expressing our
concerns about the potential impact on the community and our interest to
partner on behalf of the community to help ensure on-going, reliable access
to realtime data. We're also happy to partner with others as we all try to
smoothly migrate to a post-NOAAPORT world.

Cheers,

Ryan
