SUBJECT: CHICAGO ILLINOIS WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE'S
SHORT-FUSE COUNTY WARNING AREA EXPANDS...EFFECTIVE
OCTOBER 3, 1994.
Effective Monday, October 3, 1994 at 8:00 a.m. Central Daylight
Time, the National Weather Service (NWS) will transfer short-fuse
warning responsibility for 12 counties in northwest Indiana and
5 counties in north-central Illinois (Table 1) TO the Chicago
(CHI), Illinois Weather Service Forecast Office (WSFO) FROM the
Indianapolis (IND), Indiana WSFO, the South Bend (SBN), Indiana
Weather Service Office (WSO), and the Rockford (RFD), Illinois
WSO.
For these counties, WSFO CHI will issue short-fuse warning
products (Table 2) and related products that give followup
information on the warnings (Table 3). For holders of NWS
Operations Manual Chapter C-47, County Warning Areas, this
transfer is the 31st update in 1994 of the chapter.
Because of this county warning transfer, subscribers to the NOAA
Weather Wire Service (NWWS) and the Family of Services (FOS) must
take appropriate action to receive the short-fuse warnings and
related products for these 17 counties using the CHI identifier(Tables 2
and 3) instead of the IND, SBN and RFD identifiers.
The Universal Generic Codes (UGC), however, will remain unchanged
(as shown in Table 1).

Effective Tuesday October 4, 1994 at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Daylight warning
responsibility for two counties in Eastern Colorado
(Table 1)
TO the Denver (DEN), Colorado Weather Service Forecast
Office (WSFO) FROM the Colorado Springs (COS), Colorado Weather
Service Office (WSO).
For these 2 counties, WSFO DEN will issue short-fuse warning
products (Table 2) and related products that give followup
information on the warnings (Table 3). For holders of NWS
Operations Manual Chapter C-47, County Warning Areas, this
transfer is the 32nd update in 1994 of the chapter.
