TO: FAMILY OF SERVICES (FOS) SUBSCRIBERS, NOAA WEATHER
WIRE SERVICE (NWWS) SUBSCRIBER, OTHER NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE (NWS) PRODUCT USERS, NWS EMPLOYEES
FROM: DONALD R. WERNLY, CHIEF, WARNING AND FORECAST BRANCH
SUBJECT: SHORT-FUSE COUNTY WARNING AREA TRANSFER # 95-1:
FORT WORTH, TEXAS WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE'S
SHORT-FUSE COUNTY WARNING AREA EXPANDS, EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 10, 1995
Effective Tuesday, January 10, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. central
standard time, the National Weather Service (NWS) will transfer
short-fuse warning responsibility for fourteen (14) counties in
Texas to the Fort Worth (FTW), Texas Weather Service Forecast
Office (WSFO), from the Weather Service Offices (WSO) in Abilene
(ABI), Austin (AUS), and Waco (ACT), Texas (see Table 1). For
these counties, WSFO FTW will issue short-fuse warning products
(Table 2) and related products that give followup information on
the warnings (Table 3). For holders of the NWS Operations Manual
C-47, County Warning Areas, this is the 1st update for 1995.
Because of this county warning transfer, subscribers to the NOAA
Weather Wire Service (NWWS) and the Family of Services (FOS) must
take appropriate action to receive the short-fuse warnings and
related products for the fourteen (14) counties using the FTW
identifier (Tables 2 and 3) instead of the ABI, AUS, or ACT
identifiers. For example, if you have been receiving severe
thunderstorm warnings using the product SATSVRAUS, you will have
to change your product identifier to FTWSVRFTW. The Universal
Generic Codes (UGC), however, will remain unchanged (as shown in
Table 1).
