Effective Thursday, March 23, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. Central
Standard Time (1600 Universal Coordinated Time), the National

Weather Wire Service (NWWS) and the Family of Services (FOS) must
take appropriate action to receive the short-fuse warnings and
related products for the 14 counties using the SAT identifier
(Tables 2 and 3) instead of the AUS, VCT, or DRT identifiers.

SUBJECT: SHORT-FUSE COUNTY WARNING AREA TRANSFER NOTICE # 95-12:
ATLANTA, GEORGIA WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE'S SHORT-
FUSE COUNTY WARNING AREA EXPANDS, EFFECTIVE MARCH 23, 1995
Effective Thursday, March 23, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Standard
Time (1600 Universal Coordinated Time), the National Weather Service
(NWS) will transfer short-fuse warning responsibility for 57 counties
in Georgia to the Atlanta (ATL), Georgia Weather Service Forecast
Office (WSFO), from the Weather Service Offices (WSO) in Augusta
(AGS), Athens (AHN), Macon (MCN), Colombus (CSG), and Savannah (SAV),
Georgia (see Table 1). For these counties, WSFO ATL will issue short-
fuse warning products (Table 2) and related products that give
followup information on the warnings (Table 3). For holders of the
NWS Operations Manual Chapter C-47, County Warning Areas, this is the
12th update for 1995.
Because of this county warning transfer, subscribers to the NOAA
Weather Wire Service (NWWS) and the Family of Services (FOS) must take
appropriate action to receive the short-fuse warnings and related
products for the 57 counties using the ATL identifier (Tables 2 and 3)
instead of the AGS, AHN, MCN, CSG, or SAV identifiers. For example,
if you have been receiving severe thunderstorm warnings using the
product ATLSVRMCN, you will have to change your product identifier to
ATLSVRATL. The Universal Generic Codes (UGC), however, will remain
unchanged (as shown in Table 1).
