Phase II of the Central Computer System is scheduled to become operational on
Tuesday, 25 January. A full parallel operation has been running on the phase II
system since 15 November 2004. During the remaining two weeks extensive failover
testing will be performed between the primary and backup systems. Once the Phase II
system becomes operational, testing of the backup system will be non disruptive,
with no delay or degradation in NCEP products.

CCS users should check this page regularly for updates.
The AVN to GFS and Eta to NAM name change will be completed on 25 January, when the
Phase II CCS becomes operational. All AVN and Eta files will be eliminated on the
NCEP and NWS FTP servers on that date. Additional details about this transition can
