SOCC has reported the following:
There will be a total solar eclipse on March 29th jday 088 from approximately 07:37
through 12:46Z. This sun-moon eclipse has been
analyzed by the EMOSS eclipse model. This eclipse will affect all POES spacecraft
over the course of 3 orbits.
On Wednesday, 2006 March 29, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within
a narrow corridor which traverses half the Earth. The path of the Moon's umbra1
shadow begins in Brazil and extends across the Atlantic, northern Africa, and
central Asia where it ends at sunset in western Mongolia. A partial eclipse will be
seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes the
northern two thirds of Africa, Europe, and central Asia. Links related to this
eclipse can be found at the following:

No yaw updates will occur during any eclipse event so autonomous swap to YGC mode is
not a concern.
