20060922: NCEP update

SUBJECT:                Changes to the NWS Production Suite
1. The moratorium on changes to the NCEP Production Suite will continue until the new Central Computer System (CCS) becomes operational in January 2007. The 30-day acceptance test on Mist (the replacement for Blue) concluded on 15 September. General users will have access to Mist on or about 26 September. 2. On 26 September NCO will be migrating its operational satellite ingest processing to access data from a new NESDIS server. The old NESDIS server we had used will be turned off to NCEP on 6 October. NCO has been pulling data from the new server and processing it for the past 6 months in parallel. We do not anticipate any changes to the data in the dcom tanks associated with this switch. 3.
