NCEP Model Evaluation Subscribers,
The Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) has proposed an upgrade to the
Wave Ensemble System. The upgrade includes:
• Using the Multi-Grid Wave Model for the ensembles
• A new 1x1 degree global grid extending from 80S to 80 N
• Increasing the ensemble membership from 10 to 20
• Extending the forecast from 5 to 10 days
• All ensemble members will maintain independent restart files
• Output will be in GRIB2.
Near Real-Time Parallel Data
At 12Z, 19 May parallel GRIB data will be available at the NCEP FTP server
ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/wave/para/
Any comments on this proposed change will be greatly appreciate. Even
though there are no changes anticipated in GRIB data, users of Wave
Ensemble data are encouraged to download test data to verify that there
will be no impact on your current operations. Any feedback you wish to
provide during the evaluation period (19 May - 16 June) should be
emailed to NCEP.List.ModelEvalFeedback@xxxxxxxx, no later than 17 June
2008.
Thanks,
John Ward
