Details/Specifics of Change: *NOAA-19 MHS Channels 18- (channel 3) and
19- (channel 4) data deteriorated rapidly over the last few days. MSPPS
and MIRS products were not produced when channel 3 data were rejected
because of the data flags. A change was made to stop rejecting the data
beginning on August 22 at 1350Z with orbit
*NSS.MHSX.NP.D09234.S2319.E0109.B0278586.GC *through August 24 at 1550Z
ending with orbit * NSS.GHRR.NP.D09236.S1620.E1751.B0280910.WI. *During
this time period MHS data users may have seen bad data in their
processing if they were still using channel3 and relying on the reject
data flag to control the data flow. At this point nothing can be done
in our system to eliminate the data flags and so we returned our
processing back to normal. The product area is pursuing efforts to
eliminate reliance on channels 3 and 4.
