SUBJECT: Discontinuation of the Coded Cities Forecast (CCF)
for 5 of 6 NWS Regions Effective March 15, 2011
Effective Tuesday, March 15, 2011, NWS will discontinue the
Coded Cities Forecast (FPaa4i CCCC, CCFXXX) for 5 of 6 regions:
Alaska, Central, Eastern, Pacific and Western. All Weather
Forecast Offices (WFOs) in the NWS Southern Region (SR) will
continue issuing the CCF. A listing of all NWS WFOs, by region,
is online at:
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/organization.php
Continuation/discontinuation of the CCF on a NWS Region-by-
Region basis is a result of evaluation of comments received from
a Public Information Statement (PNS) issued in July 2009
soliciting comments through December 31, 2009:
www.weather.gov/os/notification/pns09ccf_discontinuance.txt
The above mentioned 5 NWS Regions determined other products,
like the extensible markup language (XML) products (RXUS30
KWBN, XF03DY, and RXUS30 KWBN, XF07DY) and the Point Forecast
Matrices (FOaa5i CCCC, PFMXXX), meet partner and user needs.
SR determined their partners and users still need the CCF.
