SUBJECT: Change of Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) service
for the replacement St. George, UT, Airport (KDXN)
effective January 12, 2011
NOTE: The following changes have no impact on NOAA Weather
Wire Service subscribers
Effective January 12, 2011, at 1800 Coordinated Universal Time
(UTC), the NWS Office in Salt Lake City, UT, will begin
disseminating the St. George, UT, Airport TAF under a new
identifier: KDXZ. Routine and updated TAFS will be issued for
the replacement airport, 24 hours a day.
The effective date of this change is sooner than NWS policy (NWS
instruction 10-1805). The reduction of normal lead time for
this change occurred after coordination with local customers and
the FAA.
NWS personnel will need to add the following identifier to their
communications systems to receive the new TAF:
Airport WMO Heading AWIPS ID
St. George FTUS45 KSLC TAFDXZ
In addition the TAF change will be added to the existing TAF
collectives below which are transmitted to FAA personnel and
other external customers.
WMO HEADINGS Available to the following customers
FTUS80 KWBC Non-FAA Domestic and Family of Services
FTUS90 KWBC FAA Weather Message Switching Center and
FAA Facilities
FTUS52 KWBC Global Telecommunication System Customers
Holders of NWS procedural instruction 10-813 (TERMINAL AERODROME
FORECASTS) should make appropriate additions to the appendices.
