Subject: Transition from Experimental to Operational Status of
Digital Wind and Wave Forecasts on Inland Lakes and
Reservoirs Effective March 1, 2012
Effective Thursday, March 1, 2012, NWS Weather Forecast Office
Grand Forks (FGF) will transition to operational the Digital Wind
and Wave Forecasts on Inland Lakes and Reservoirs product. This
product provides a visual display of digital wind and waves for
inland lakes and reservoirs for local law enforcement, emergency
management, state and federal agencies as well as recreational
boaters.
This service has been provided experimentally since December 6,
2010, (See Public Information Statement (PNS) NOUS43 KFGF 061641
/ PNSFGF). Feedback during the experimental test period was
overwhelmingly positive.
