SUBJECT: Soliciting comments by March 30, 2012 on plans to
replace the Southeastern United States and Gulf
of Mexico marine weather web portal*//*
NWS is proposing to replace the Southeastern United States
(SERN US) and Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Marine Weather Web Portal:
http://forecast.weather.gov/mwp/
This service is being proposed for replacement because NWS
developers are going to debut a new national and updated
marine weather web portal that will have many morecapabilities
than the SERN US and GOM Marine Weather Web Portal. While the
existing SERN US and GOM portal is limited to just a portion
of the nation’s coastal waters, the new portal will expand to
cover all U.S. coastal waters. NWS plans to post an experimental
version of the new portal this spring 2012.
NWS is requesting comments through March 30, 2012, on plans to
replace the Southeastern United States and Gulf of Mexico Marine
Weather Web Portal with a national product. Send comments to:

If a decision is made to replace the Southeastern United States
and Gulf of Mexico Marine Weather Web Portal, a Service Change
Notice will be issued announcing the effective date.
A Service Change Notice also will be released announcing when
the experimental national marine weather web portal will be
available to all users.
