[thredds] How to download bulk datasets?

Hi,
about three years ago, we've discussed the possibility to add a bulk-data download facility thredds, so that advanced users can download most/all files from a directory with e.g. a single wget command. See http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/mailing_lists/archives/thredds/2010/msg00250.html 

Have there been any updates on implementing such a feature?
