[thredds] RHEL 7 Installation

I've been trying to make sense of the installation materials for
THREDDS. It seems that the versions of Tomcat and Java available from
RedHat for RHEL 7 meet the minimum requirements to install TDS 4.6.
But the instructions are conflicting about what is necessary. Has
anyone successfully installed TDS on a RHEL 7 system? If yes, would
you be willing to offer some tips?
