QuikSCAT winds in NMAP2?

Can anyone successfully view QuikSCAT winds in NMAP2 (5.7.4)?  I turned on
the saving of the QS BUFR files to disk in my LDM (fed from our PDI system)
and the files are being written to disk but both NMAP2 and gpmap load the
files without complaining but do not display any data.  Any ideas?
